Subject Area Tutoring & Enrichment
Lindsey has the experience and skills necessary to help your child with any subject in which they need support or could use an additional challenge. Lindsey will develop lessons tailored to your child's individual needs in the areas of mathematics, reading, writing, science, social studies and more.
Lindsey is Orton-Gillingham trained and special education certified.
Lindsey will help your child build confidence and prepare for any upcoming tests including NYC Gifted & Talented (OLSAT + NNAT2), ELA & Math NYS tests. She will not only review practice tests but also helps students develop test-taking skills.
Lindsey specializes in supporting children with their executive functioning skills. These skills are the mental processes that enable us to plan, focus attention, remember instructions, and multi-task. Children are not born with these skills—they are born with the potential to develop them.
Lindsey helps teach students how to organize, plan, manage time, maintain focus, self-assess, and study efficiently.
Lindsey is currently working as a teacher at Mary McDowell Friends School, while also tutoring after school in reading, writing, mathematics, test prep and executive functioning. Prior to Mary McDowell, Lindsey was a classroom teacher in a public elementary classroom in Manhattan, in both general education and gifted and talented settings. Lindsey discovered her passion when working with students individually and building upon their strengths and working through their learning challenges.
Lindsey has a Master's degree in Special Education and General Education from the Bank Street Graduate School of Education and an undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California (USC). Her experiences in the areas of literacy and math, as well as executive functioning and test prep, combined with her intensive training in Orton-Gillingham and Wilson Fundations, provide a unique skill set to enhance learning for all children. Lindsey understands the importance of looking at each child as an individual and developing instruction based upon their strengths and passions.
Lindsey is a resident of the Boerum Hill neighborhood in Brooklyn. She lives with her husband, son, and her goldendoodle, Bodie Blue. She is a Boston native and a loyal Boston sports fan.
